Interview: Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General, International Road Transport Union

Economic uncertainty and industry disruption are sending the global transport industry towards a critical juncture, writes Megan Lampinen

The road transport industry finds itself confronting a host of challenges today, from chronic driver shortages to the rapid adoption of digital technologies and escalating climate change concerns. While these are all significant, they are not insurmountable. The International Road Transport Union (IRU) recently outlined its recommendations in how best to tackle these and other barriers facing players across the transportation value chain. As IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto explained in an interview with Automotive World, the industry is reaching a critical point and action needs to be taken now.
