Automotive electronics supplier recognized for advancing the connected driving experience

Leading automotive supplier Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) was awarded the first-prize innovation award for its unique connected platform, Fusion, at a European automotive suppliers gala ceremony  in Brussels, Belgium, organized by the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA), Automobil Produktion and the German automotive industry organization, Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA).

Visteon’s Fusion platform is a highly innovative technology integrating traditional driver information, infotainment and Cloud connectivity through a seamless human machine interaction (HMI) experience. The first-to-market solution integrates different domains on a system level by considering an optimized hardware and software approach – making it simpler for automakers to update certain aspects of the system, such as the infotainment platform, without affecting the rest of the system.

“Fusion will change the way drivers interface with the vehicle and the way the vehicle interfaces with the Cloud,” said Harald Schoepp, executive director, infotainment and connectivity, who represented Visteon at the event. “Fusion combines multiple levels of functionality and information into one system for the first time, including vehicle-related and safety-critical information such as speed or warning signals, as well as personal information from the Cloud. This concept illustrates how we are constantly working to improve the connected driving experience for the driver and passengers.”

“Benefiting from Cloud connectivity, vehicle manufacturers can configure, maintain and enhance the system over the product’s lifecycle,” added Christian Feltgen, vice president, Visteon technology office. “This is a significant differentiator compared with conventional audio and infotainment systems solutions.”

With representatives of most of the world’s top 100 automotive suppliers in attendance, the awards recognized innovative companies in terms of “green, safe and connected” technologies – with Visteon claiming the “connected” prize for its Fusion concept.

Arnaud de David-Beauregard, CLEPA president, noted: “Innovation is the key driver of automotive suppliers. Higher expectations around safety, environmental performance, and fuel efficiency are the essence of research and business in our industry. Our awards honor the best and brightest in our industry.”
