Ahead of the House of Commons Transport Committee’s inquiry into a recent increase in cyclist deaths on the roads, it has been announced that the total number of cyclists killed in London this year rose to 13; eight of which were due to collisions with trucks. The national cycling charity the Cyclists Touring Club (CTC) is consequentially calling for major changes to be made to the design of trucks, the design of key junctions, driver training, and most controversially, for trucks to be banned from the roads during peak hours to avoid any more unnecessary deaths.
