Cross-sector-collaboration targets 5G as fast pass to autonomy

5G will help address the latency problems associated with 4G, which have proven one of the obstacles to autonomous driving. By Megan Lampinen

The German Big Three are proving once again that there is strength in numbers, and the more varied the better. BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz are again joining forces in a bid to bolster their connectivity competence. This partnership also brings in mobile telecoms network equipment companies Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia and Qualcomm, and is focussed on 5G.
