Robert Bosch GmbH, Duetz AG, and Eberspächer GmbH & Co. KG have agreed to restructure their collaboration on diesel exhaust-gas treatment. To this end, Bosch plans to acquire all the shares in Bosch Emission Systems GmbH & Co. KG (BESG) from Deutz and Eberspächer. It has been agreed between the parties that the purchase price will not be disclosed, in a transaction still subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
The planned reorganisation will be “better aligned with customer and market demands,” said Bosch’s statement on the deal, without explaining how. BESG will aim to increase its business with truck and engine manufacturers as well as off-road machinery manufacturers in North America and Asia. Deutz and Eberspächer will continue to work with BESG within the framework of customer and supply agreements.
Since it was set up in 2010, BESG has offered a modular system for treating the diesel exhaust gas of vehicles ranging from construction and agricultural machinery to trucks and buses. Approximately 180 people work for BESG at three locations in Germany.
The collaboration between Bosch and Deutz is to be intensified, and will take the form of an innovation partnership which will focus on exhaust gas treatment, diesel injection technology, and electronics, aiming to improve systems integration in powertrain technology for mobile machinery. BESG will also continue to supply Deutz with exhaust gas treatment systems.
Eberspächer will continue to supply components to BESG, and Bosch and Eberspächer intend to collaborate closely on joint development projects in the exhaust gas treatment field.
