Waymo targets NYC expansion with supervised testing

Waymo has applied for a permit with New York City's Department of Transportation to operate self-driving cars in Manhattan, albeit with “trained specialists” behind the wheel acting as safety drivers. The move represents Waymo's first step toward potentially establishing an eventual robotaxi service in the US’ largest city.
