Dr. Stefan Sommer, CEO of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, is new member of the Managing Board of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). On Friday, November 9, the association’s general meeting elected him as Hans-Georg Härter’s successor.

The 49-year-old engineer has been CEO of ZF Friedrichshafen AG since May 2012. Now, the representatives of the general meeting elected him as new member of the Managing Board.

“I am looking forward to the future work in this committee with its high-ranking members,” said Sommer upon his election. As successor to Hans-Georg Härter who formed part of the VDA’s Managing Board since November 2008, he will represent the interests of manufacturing group III – Parts and Accessories.
