Today marks the beginning of the action week “Wir unternehmen was“ (“We’re doing something”) of the VDMA (Association of German Engineering Industries). With this initiative, the VDMA would like to draw attention to the social commitment of Germany‘s machine and plant engineering companies in terms of responsible and sustainable corporate leadership. Voith will be among the participants when the VDMA members launch their campaign, which runs September 19-23, 2016.

The family-owned company Voith shares the philosophy of sustainable and future-oriented corporate leadership and takes part in this action week: On 22 September, the company will organize a “Getting-to-Know” day for refugees who are starting a preparatory qualification program for an apprenticeship as industrial mechanics at Voith in October. With this training sponsorship, Voith would like to allow young refugees to enter the labor market. The goal of the event is to make the young foreigners feel welcome, when they arrive and to facilitate their first day at Voith. First, the newcomers are welcomed and invited to try on their new workwear. Afterwards, they will get a guided works tour.

Sustainable operations and entrepreneurial success are inextricably linked at Voith. The Heidenheim family-owned company, makes a significant contribution to sustainable corporate development, adding value to society and the environment.

Further information about the commitment of Voith within the framework of the action week is available under www.wir-unternehmen-was.de.
