Located at Jacarei, SaoPaulo, with an area of some 1 million square meters and a total investment of 400 million US dollars, Chery Brazil Plant is Chery’s largest overseas plant as well as the largest exclusively-funded overseas plant of Chinese independent auto brands. Composed of a welding workshop, a painting workshop and an assembly workshop, the plant will go into production in November.

Su said in the speech, Sino-Brazilian bilateral economic and trade relations have made great strides in recent years and China has become Brazil’s largest trade partner. In the automobile field, as China is the world’s largest automobile production and consumption country and Brazil is the world’s fourth-largest automobile consumption market, there is huge potential for the two countries’ cooperation in this field. Chery’s building a plant in Brazil as China’s largest independent automaker marks an important step in its process of internationalization. It is believed that Chery will achieve brilliant results in Brazil to make a positive contribution to the development of China’s and Brazil’s auto industries with the concerted efforts of all related sides.

Subsequently, witnessed by the entourage from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the workers of Chery Brazil Plant, Su pressed the button to launch the assembly line with Yin Tongyue, chairman of Chery; Peng Jian, general manager of Chery Brazil and Curi, vice general manager of Chery Brazil.

Accompanied by Yin, Su also visited the welding and assembly workshops, and inquired about plant planning. Phase 1 of Chery Brazil Plant has a planned production capacity of 50,000 units, and the first batch of models will be flex fuel Celer and QQ to roll offline late this year. After the completion of Phase 2 and 3, the plant will increase its production capacity to 150,000 units, be upgraded to CheryIndustrial Park and form a complete industry chain involving R & D center, vehicle manufacturing plant and spare parts supplier, and its product series will cover entry-level vehicles, compact vehicles and SUV. As a major manufacturing base in South America, the plant’s products are also planned to be exported to the rest of the world. Yin briefly introduced the plant. After listening to the introduction carefully, Su spoke highly of plant planning.
