- For the second year running, the brand has won this prestigious award, which recognises the efforts it has made to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy
- The innovative eco:Drive Professional and eco:Drive Fleet systems also recognised for their important and concrete contribution to the efficiency of commercial vehicles
For the second time in succession, the Fiat Professional brand has been named “LCV Manufacturer of the Year” at the GreenFleet Awards 2013 during a ceremony held at the Emirates Stadium in London. This prestigious award recognises the efforts made by manufacturers to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector.
Fiat Professional’s current range offers numerous technologies to increase vehicle efficiency, such as Start&Stop, which temporarily shuts the engine down when the vehicle is stationary, and ‘Traction+’, which improves the vehicle’s traction on low-grip surfaces without the need for 4X4 systems. Both technologies, in combination with the new MultiJet II turbodiesel engines, guarantee diverse professional clients optimum levels of consumption and emissions in their respective segments.
Two more Fiat Professional innovations – eco:Drive Professional and eco:Drive Fleet – are also recognised for helping drivers to achieve maximum fuel efficiency. Both are developments of the eco:Drive software application developed in 2009 by Fiat, which analyses driving style by collecting data from the car and gives personalised advice. It’s a genuine digital tutor that, if used consistently and correctly, permits a reduction in consumption and emissions of up to 16%.
In detail, eco:Drive Fleet allows fleet managers to monitor vehicle data through an online dashboard, automatically updating the database with running costs and the mileage count for maintenance intervals. Theeco:Drive Professional system is even more innovative: it allows commercial vehicle drivers to enter various parameters, such as the load they’re carrying and the frontal area of the vehicle. The software allows the client to analyse the impact of the load on the vehicle’s efficiency and suggests the most appropriate behaviour to achieve the best fuel economy.
It’s important to remember that influencing driver behaviour not only makes a significant contribution to reducing a company’s emissions: it can also have a considerable impact on operator running costs thanks to the reduction in expenditure on fuel as well as vehicle wear-and-tear.
