Once carmakers demanded their suppliers “open the box” of in-vehicle infotainment “head units,” the way IVI software is developed changed completely. Formerly bitter rivals now must work together on the increasingly complex IVI infrastructure, while still maintaining their competitive advantage.

The GENIVI Alliance is sponsoring the Collaborate or Die session held at the International CES 2014 on 9 January 2014, which will focus on the alliances and other collaborative efforts facilitating these next generation systems.

Panelists in the session will also discuss what has been learned to date and what challenges and opportunities lay ahead, before delving into the facts and realities that are promising the future of being “open.”

The session will take place from 11.30am to 12.30pm at the Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC), North Hall, N258.

Paul Hansen, Founder and Publisher of “The Hansen Report on Automotive Electronics” is scheduled to present the session, with Alan Taylor, award-winning radio and television host and Chief Executive Officer, Entertainment Radio Network, serving as Moderator.

The panelists confirmed to speak at the session include:

  • Matt  Jones, Senior Technical Specialist, Infotainment and VP of GENIVI Alliance, Jaguar/Land Rover
  • Charles  Koch, Manager New Business Development, Honda
  • Graham  Smethurst, General Manager, Infotainment and Communications, BMW
  • John  Ellis, Global Technologist and Head of the Ford Developer Program, Ford Motor Company
  • Phillipe  Gicquel, General Manager for Cockpit, Safety, Infotainment EE Modules, PSA Peugeot Citroën

Tickets: Tickets cost US$150 in advance (less GENIVI discount) or US$300 on the day of the event.
Note: GENIVI members or guests of GENIVI attending the GENIVI Demonstration Showcase at the Trump Hotel can register for the “Collaborate or Die” OEM Panel session by entering the code “genivices2014” to receive a 25% discount prior to 1 January 2014.
