The APMA connected car brings together like minded Canadian company partners who have a united, cohesive vision for the future: innovation.

Companies like QNX, Alcolock, IMS. MIS, Magna, Rogers, TE Connectivity, Gesturesense, Weather Tellimatics, Toyota, B.R.A.K.E.R.S. Pravalanetworks, Watcar, University of Waterloo.

The connected “intelligent” platform has emerged from a “made in Ontario” (Toyota) Lexus RX350 with F-Sport package.

Lixar provided guidance and assets to the various companies participating in the program in terms of user experience and integrated user interfaces.  Leveraging a single cohesive design philosophy and a more integrated approach to the disparate pieces technology, allow for a more seamless demonstration of the tremendous potential a collaboration such as this affords.

To quote Lixar’s Director of Innovation:  “Innovation in connected technology moves at a rapid pace.  Pushing the envelope for faster data delivery, connectivity, safety, the entire vehicle experience.  With this enablement there must be a shift.  Not a complete direction change but a shift.  The human factor. We must innovate in terms of the human experience, how this vast amount of information can be delivered, when it is appropriate to deliver it and what does it all mean.”

Technology is absolutely critical.  Most new vehicles have more than one screen and a plethora of medium for interaction: hard controls, touch, gestures, cameras, voice.  The vast majority of vehicle owners also have a mobile device. Understanding what data is crucial and the best (read safest) way to interact and deliver it is a fundamental requirement.
