Volvo reaffirms commitment to India as Eicher shares offloaded

Volvo no longer views its holding in Eicher as necessary, but that doesn't mean it's not interested in India

The Volvo Group has sold off 1.27 million shares in Indian truck manufacturer Eicher Motors for SEK 2.5bn (US$286m) and plans to use the funds to support other areas of the business. Prior to the share sale, Volvo owned 8.4% of Eicher. The two partners operate an equal-parts joint venture, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), which they say will not be impacted.
