Torotrak on the truck of the future

Automotive World talks to Tobias Knichel, Torotrak’s Business Development Director, about the way he sees trucking and truck technology developing and changing over the next decade

In January 2014, Torotrak finalised its acquisition of Flybrid, a UK-based manufacturer of mechanical flywheel hybrid technology. Entered into the 2014 SMMT Award for Automotive Innovation, Torotrak’s Flybrid KERS system for buses and commercial vehicles took first place. The fully mechanical system stores energy from a vehicle’s motion, which it transfers back to the drive system to power the vehicle.
