NXP seeking smaller tech for wider reach

NXP's Maurice Geraets speaks to Megan Lampinen about the latest technological advances and the key to segment leadership

NXP Semiconductors believes its latest automotive electronics innovation represents a notable step towards mass-market advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) adoption and autonomous cars. A new 77GHz radar transceiver (7.5x7.5 mm) boasting high resolution performance marks what NXP claims is the world's smallest single-chip transceiver, allowing for smaller and less expensive radar sensors. As radar is a core technology in ADAS systems, providing precise data about the surrounding driving environment, this could pave the way for a jump in ADAS adoption in affordable vehicles.
