Mexico bins BYD plant plans over fears of Trump blowback

BYD has shelved its planned 150,000-unit factory in Mexico, but remains determined to build its presence in Latin America. By Stewart Burnett

BYD has abandoned plans to build a major manufacturing plant in Mexico, citing geopolitical volatility and trade tensions with the US. The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant had been evaluating three potential sites for a facility to produce around 150,000 vehicles annually and create some 10,000 jobs.
