Meritor strongly placed for N American upturn, says supplier’s new Americas President

Appointed two months ago as Meritor's President Americas, Chris Villavarayan has a 15-year history with the supplier. Having run operations in both India and Europe, he now takes over the North American business at an interesting point in its development.

While there are indicators that suggest the market is climbing, the role of Tier 1 suppliers is also under the spotlight. As Meritor continues its negotiations with Volvo - seeking to ensure a continuation of the global axle supply contract, due to end in October of this year - much attention is now focused upon the Troy, Michigan-based axle supplier.
