Keeping riders safe will require an orderly approach to micromobility

To truly integrate micromobility into existing networks, it is time to leave the ‘wild west’ approach behind. By Jack Hunsley

Although it has changed the way thousands of commuters move from A to B, the arrival of micromobility has not been a smooth one. Outside of the recent layoffs and ridership drops stemming from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the ‘act now, ask for forgiveness later’ entry approach of many in the scene has rubbed plenty of city officials the wrong way. Although more competitors are beginning to work with these local authorities, the impact of that motto is still plain to see.
