Daimler Trucks looks to Japan to strengthen North American production

The OEM moves to utilize global capacity as its Freightliner models continue to enjoy strong demand

Demand for trucks in the North American market has prompted Daimler Trucks to put free global capacity to use and begin sourcing components for its Freightliner brand from Japan. Since late December 2015 the OEM has been importing parts used in the production of axles from a plant in Kawasaki, a city in the Greater Tokyo Area, to its Freightliner assembly plants in North America.
