The need for cyber security today spans the entire automotive spectrum, from passenger cars to heavy trucks and even onto the racing track. "The racing aspect is not obvious," conceded Jon Geater, Chief Technology Officer at Thales e-Security. Thales recently won a contract to provide cyber security solutions for real-time global telemetry transmission to Formula 1 (F1) team Williams Martini Racing as well as its engineering and technology division Williams Advanced Engineering. "The kind of things that you would normally put into a business to protect its website just doesn't cut it for a cutting edge, very high speed, high bandwidth mobile data centre."
