Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is reported to have offered a salary hike of 7.5%, starting in November 2012. The deal will, however, have to be ratified by JLR’s UK union members.

“We have offered a 7.5% wage hike to over 21,000 employees of JLR in two tranches. While the first hike of 4.5% will be effective from 1 November, the second increase of 3% will be from 1 November 2013,” Press Trust of India quotes a JLR spokesman in India, as saying.

Media reports in the UK say the offer is likely to be ratified, as it is one of the best available in the UK automotive sector. The wage increase is only for the company’s British workers.

JLR employs around 25,000 people worldwide. The newswire, citing media reports in the UK, said the offer also includes making 2,400 agency workers permanent employees from 1 November 2012.
