While there is further work to be done on maximising the efficiency of ICEs, even more can be done to improve the range and efficiency of EVs. The US Energy Department has recently announced more than US$55m worth of funding for 31 projects that will accelerate the research and development of critical vehicle technologies. It is hoped these will improve fuel efficiency and help to reduce costs. The projects range from aiming to meet the goals and objectives of Obama’s EV Everywhere Grand Challenge to making improvements in other vehicle technologies including powertrains, fuel, tyres, and auxiliary systems….
