Australia just wrapped up a record year of new vehicle sales, with 12-month volumes up 1.7% year-on-year to 1,155,408 units, topping the previous record set in 2013 of 1,136,227 units. Last year's figures also mark a 3.8% rise from the 2014 total. Tony Weber, Chief Executive of the country's Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), attributes the performance to the launch of new models "with significant performance and comfort attributes," along with the wide level of choice and record affordability levels.
