OnStar, the General Motors subsidiary that provides roadside assistance, automotive emergency response and turn-by-turn navigation, is extending into new areas. The latest overhaul of the system will see the addition of a high-speed 4G LTE data connection, which will be provided by AT&T and allow an in-car Wi-Fi hot spot, access to apps, radio streaming, weather and vehicle diagnostics.
