UK Logistics Forum Offers Opportunities For Collaboration

SMMT hosted the UK Logistics Forum this week, providing a platform for automotive manufacturers and industry representatives to tackle logistics issues impacting on industry.

The meeting was attended by 14 companies including Associated British Ports, Caterpillar, CEVA Logistics, Delphi, Ford Europe, GEFCO UK, General Motors, Honda UK Manufacturing and Jaguar Land Rover.

Delegates benefitted from presentations on the state of the UK economy with a logistics focus and the European production outlook from SMMT and AutoAnalysis.

Presentations were also given on skills retention from the sector skills council, Skills for Logistics, and the Modal Shift Centre from the Freight Transport Association.

Other topics of discussion included cabotage, road lorry user charging, HGV speed limits, CO2 reporting and management, new technology and supply chain risk management.

The UK Logistics Forum meets four times a year and receives regular policy and logistics project updates. The group is particularly keen to expand its existing Tier 1 and Tier 2 representation.
