Chevron Lubricants recently announced its Delo 400 XLE Synblend 10W-30 heavy duty lubricant has been selected as the standard factory fill oil for new vehicles by U.S. truck maker Kenworth.
This news has considerable significance for truck operators in Europe since it is a signpost to a new generation of truck lubricant formulations. Chevron Lubricants is a major developer, producer and provider of fuels and lubricants to the global commercial transport industry and is in the process of launching a new suite of its Texaco branded Ursa oils in Europe.
The new Delo formulation for Kenworth has been developed to meet the intense requirements of the new emissions standards for North America which have strong parallels to Euro 6, the regulation which comes into force for new trucks in Europe from the end of 2013.
The new Ursa range, now fully available across Europe, also has at its core a 10W-30 product with identical characteristics to the Delo product. Both products have been developed to help meet new more stringent emission legislation and meet the common goal shared by truck operators on both sides of the Atlantic to increase fuel economy and reduce fuel expenditures.
“The trend towards lower viscosity, Low SAPS oils such as the 10W-30 Delo and Ursa products is significant since there are demonstrable fuel economy benefits to be gained by end users while the protection of vital engine components is maintained” says Dave Spence, Chevron Channel Marketing Manager in Europe.
“This advanced new technology is derived directly from Chevron leadership in the development and production of premium base oils. Our tremendous investment in these new lubricants underlines our commitment to winning a leading position in this exciting new area and supporting our truck operating clients with the best product available,” Spence added. “Our new products have been shown to increase fuel economy and thereby lower fuel expenditures without compromising performance.”
Kenworth announced the upgrade to Delo 400 XLE 10W-30 as part of an effort to further enhance fuel economy for Class 8 diesel trucks.
“Kenworth continually explores ways to offer products that help enhance our customers’ bottom line. We’ve worked closely with Chevron for more than 20 years and their latest, fuel-efficient Delo 400 XLE Synblend 10W-30 oil provides a good opportunity for additional fuel efficiency gains,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth Marketing Director.
