Aupeo, GmbH, (Aupeo) a leading audio content solutions provider for the connected automotive market and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation of North America, today announced David J. Taylor as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Taylor joined Aupeo in April 2013 as Chief Technology Officer, leading the transformation of the company’s consumer music service into the B2B OneConnectSM platform, which enables vehicle manufacturers to reinvent in-vehicle systems with new experiences that personally and intuitively inform and entertain drivers in a connected world.
“Since 2013 Aupeo has been developing a visionary and unique product and service for the automotive market. While there are many solutions that can provide connected audio in the vehicle, the OneConnect℠ platform is the only one that provides seamless integration of on-board and off-board content with consumers’ favorite content services, as well as allowing the OEM the ability to reimagine and differentiate the user experience in unique and driver- friendly ways that gives life to their brand,” said Mr. Taylor.
Armin Fendrich rejoins Aupeo as Chief Revenue Officer and Managing Director. Fendrich has a strong track record of growing revenue in automotive and service companies including Nokia and most recently NNG. He also has formerly held the position of Vice President of Sales at Aupeo. Fendrich, based in Berlin, Germany, will lead the development of global partnerships with automotive OEMs as they continue to introduce new features and services in next generation connected infotainment and other interior systems.
“It’s great to be back in Berlin as part of a strong Aupeo team. Leading the global growth of an automotive-focused services company from a city that has developed into one of the most important technology hubs in Europe is truly a big advantage for us. In Germany the automotive and tech industries come together and the development of technologies and services for the connected car is a natural synergy. I’m excited to be part of the leadership team at Aupeo as we enter into a new era for the company and the industry.” Mr. Fendrich said.
Taylor and Fendrich have assumed their new roles from September 1, 2015. The former CEO, Holger G. Weiss, will continue to support as a consultant and advisor to assist in the transition and will depart in December after 7 years of involvement with the company, initially as one of the first investors and board members, and later as Chief Executive Officer since 2010. He led the startup through the acquisition by Panasonic Corporation of North America in April 2013.
“It’s time to hand over responsibility and vision for Aupeo and I am very pleased to be able to do so to such experienced hands like las David’s and Armin’s. I have decided to focus on new ventures and startups – especially those within the automotive area,” said Mr. Weiss.
“We are very grateful for the strong leadership Holger showed before and after the acquisition as CEO and we are privileged to have such a good relationship that he remains an Aupeo advisor.”, Mr. Taylor added.
