Chaminda Basnayake, Principal Engineer, Renesas Electronics has been confirmed as a speaker at Autonomous Car Detroit.
Dr. Basnayake is a Principal Engineer with Renesas Electronics America where he leads all Renesas V2X activities in North America. Prior to that he was with General Motors R&D and GM OnStar as a Senior Engineer. He served as the GPS/GNSS Subject Matter Expert for GM and the USDOT-automotive OEM collaboration Crash Avoidance Metrics Partnership (CAMP) consortium during his 10 years at GM.
He has authored/co-authored over 20 GM patents and numerous publications and presentations on GNSS, V2X, and telematics systems. His career highlights include winning GM’s highest award for excellence and being nominated as one of the 50 Leaders to Watch in the GNSS industry by the GPSWorld magazine.
