Shifting revenue pools necessitate innovation, warns McKinsey

Diverse mobility, autonomous driving, electrification and connectivity are reshaping the industry. McKinsey speaks to Megan Lampinen about its vision of the technology-driven future

While emerging mobility trends have some industry watchers concerned, new findings from McKinsey suggest they could prove massive revenue drivers. The report “Automotive revolution – perspective towards 2030" concludes that new business models have the potential to bolster automotive revenue pools by around 30%, adding up to US$1.3tr in additional revenue potential by 2030. This growth stems from new revenue streams, such as shared mobility, data connectivity services and global macroeconomic growth in emerging economies.
