Isuzu weighs South Africa as African CV production hub

Isuzu’s South Africa President aims to bring African volumes up to 45% in the coming years. By Stewart Burnett

Isuzu Motors South Africa aims to establish the country as a manufacturing hub for commercial vehicles (CVs) serving the African market, with local boss Billy Tom engaging Japanese headquarters about relocating production from Japan. The truckmaker has successfully trialled local truck and body manufacturing, although some components remain imported from China and the Middle East.
