The massive number of recalls from General Motors this year has raised concerns in some camps regarding a possible change in the company's official standard for what poses a safety risk. If it is widening that definition, it could have dramatic implications for the industry. So far this year, the OEM has announced about 40 recalls covering nearly 29 million vehicles in North America - an astounding jump from the 800,000 it recalled in 2013.
