GM diversifies rare earth supply through Noveon deal

GM aims to mitigate its rare earth dependency on China through a new supply agreement with Texas-based Noveon Magnetics. By Will Girling

General Motors has signed a multi-year rare earth magnet supply deal with Texas-based Noveon Magnetics. In a 6 August 2025 press release, the company confirmed production has already begun, with the first deliveries to support "a wide range of GM components" already sent to the automaker in July.
