Decarbonisation central to ongoing truck engine development

With trucking reliant on diesel for the foreseeable future, suppliers and truck makers must maximise fuel economy and efficiency, and improve emissions. By Jack Hunsley

Diesel engines have come a long way since the first prototype in the late 19th century. Having first produced engines at around the 20% efficiency, today’s engines can achieve more than double this figure. However, while the industry has made significant technological advances, work continues to find extra gains.
