OTA to allow increased post-production on vehicles

The connected car could affect the manufacturing process and lengthen the amount of time we keep a car, says the Connected Vehicle Trade Association. By Xavier Boucherat

When GM Chief Executive Mary Barra introduced the Chevrolet Bolt at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), she made it clear that the electrified powertrain wasn’t the model’s only selling point. The OEM’s affordable EV, due to go into production in October 2016 at the Orion assembly plant, will also feature a range of connectivity features via OnStar, such as Wi-Fi, automatic crash response, destination download, and a new game feature that will allow drivers to compete to see who is the most efficient driver.
