Building the middleman: the start-up solution to in-car assistants

As Amazon, Google and Microsoft continue to dominate the virtual assistant space, there is room for start-ups to act as the middleman. By Jack Hunsley

Consumers love virtual assistants. In just five years, more than 100 million Amazon Alexa devices have been sold. 217 million Siri-enabled iPhones were sold in 2018. Google Assistant is now available on more than one billion devices worldwide. The ease and practicality offered by virtual assistants are certainly bringing in adopters, and at such a rate that the automotive industry is eager to capitalise on it.
