ASDC addresses skills shortage in Indian manufacturing segment

Automotive World speaks with Sunil K Chaturvedi, the head of the ASDC, on the shortage of skilled labour in the country's automotive manufacturing segment today

The Indian automotive industry accounted for nearly 7% of the country's GDP in the 2013-14 financial year. The country is currently the seventh-largest automotive producer in the world, with average annual output of around 17.5 million vehicles (all types, including two-wheelers), out of which 2.3 million are exported. The domestic market too is rising and is expected to become the third-largest in the world by 2016.
