Ford bets it can pull off ‘breakthrough’ US-built EVs

Ford doubles down on pickups and SUVs with LFP batteries from its new plant in Michigan. By Stewart Burnett

Ford has announced plans to unveil “breakthrough” electric vehicles (EVs) to be built in the US at an 11 August event in Kentucky, with Chief Executive Jim Farley promising a “Model T moment” for the company. The announcement came as Ford reported Q2 revenue of US$50bn, beating expectations despite an US$800m tariff impact and continuing EV losses.
