Hyundai pauses EV production again as demand weakens

Hyundai will halt production of the Ioniq 5 and Kona Electric for the fourth time in 2025 as it reckons with a global sales slowdown. By Stewart Burnett

Hyundai will temporarily halt electric vehicle (EV) production at its manufacturing complex in Ulsan from 25 to 27 June, marking the fourth production stoppage this year as the automaker navigates lower-than-expected sales. The facility manufactures the Ioniq 5 crossover and Kona Electric for global markets, including Europe and North America.
