Daimler has unveiled its future plans to develop connected trucks, which will involve the formation of two new business groups. As of 1 April 2016, all competencies regarding Mercedes-Benz truck connectivity will be bundled into a new Digital Solutions and Services business unit. The same goes for the bus division, through the formation of the Future Mobility Solutions unit.
The news broke as part of a dedicated press conference in Dusseldorf, Germany. In stark contrast to a recent BMW press event – which relied heavily on interpretive dance – esteemed environmental and scientific writer Jeremy Rifkin’s opening remarks were arguably more bleak:
