2015 is an important year for the GENIVI Alliance. The organisation, which promotes the broad adoption of specified, open source, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) software, has announced that it will fund a project to deliver an open interface to Android Auto. Renault and Nissan have said they will launch a new joint programme to deliver a common IVI system based on software developed within the Alliance membership, and at the start of the year, Daimler joined the GENIVI Alliance, taking to 13 the number of OEM members. 2015 also sees GENIVI publish its GENIVI Development Platform.
