When International CES 2015 opens in Las Vegas on 6 January, the car industry will take centre stage. In 2014, nine vehicle manufactures and 125 suppliers between them occupied 140,000 sq ft (13,006 m2) of space, up 25% on the previous year. Even though the annual consumer electronics (CE) show takes place just a week ahead of the industry’s own North American International Auto Show in Detroit, OEMs are increasingly using the event to highlight their tech developments. At CES 2014, Audi and BMW chose CES to reveal their latest driverless car technologies alongside a host of first tiers presenting their vision for the convergence of automotive and CE technology.
