Uber considers funding acquisition of Pony.ai US subsidiary

As the robotaxi market accelerates, Uber and its former CEO may have eyes on Pony.ai’s US operations and technology. By Will Girling

Ride-hailing giant Uber is in talks with its former Chief Executive Travis Kalanick to acquire parts of autonomous vehicle (AV) developer Pony.ai, according to a 26 June 2025 article by the New York Times. The company mainly operates in China but has permits and a subsidiary for the US, and these are reportedly what discussions are focused on.
