Reuters: Tesla Cybercab plans dented by US tariffs on China

The high import tariffs on goods from China has reportedly caused Tesla to halt component shipments for its Cybercab robotaxi. By Will Girling

Tesla’s plans to create an operating robotaxi service in the US may have met a roadblock, as component imports from China for the Cybercab have been halted. A 16 April 2025 report by Reuters, citing an anonymous source, claimed that US President Donald Trump’s heavy tariffs on Chinese goods were the direct cause of the decision.
