Due to its excellent appearance and design quality, on March 22 in Tokyo, Japan, the Chery TIGGO 7 won the title of Best Production Car Design China 2016 awarded by CARSTYLING, the world’s most authoritative automobile design magazine. It’s thesecond time, since the prototype Chery TX received the Award for Best Conceptual Model at the Geneva Auto Show,the TIGGO7 has won international award in the area of automobile design, highlighting the world-class level of CHERY DESIGN.
Founded in 1973, CARSTYLING has a 44 year history as the world’s renowned top-level magazine of automobile design. Distributed throughout the world, it is one of the most authoritative automobile design magazines, highly treasured by the world’s automobile designers. . This award was voted by professional judges after online review and test drive in-depth evaluation.
Mr. Akira Fujimoto, renowned auto expert and founder of CARSTYLING, presentedthe award to Mr. James Hope, the Executive Director of the Chery Design Center in the award ceremony. He spoke highly of Chery by commenting that it the Chinese auto brand with the highest level of innovation awareness and also the most globally-focused car brand in China. He thinks that the world-leading design of the TIGGO 7 has greatly improved the status of China’s brands in the international arena of auto design, believing that in the near future Chery will become the leading Chinese auto brand in the world.
In addition to the successive international design awards, the TIGGO 7 has also won number of awards in China. In November 2016, the TIGGO 7 won the Prestige Prize in the China Industrial Design Competition; in January 2017, the TIGGO 7 was chosen by the Chinese magazine Auto Business Review for the Xuanyuan Design Award 2017. Chery receives wide recognition for its excellent quality of design, thus establishing a new benchmark in the design field and starting a new era of original car design in China.
In general, there exist larger differences between batch-production vehicles and concept vehicles, for concept vehicles integrate the most advanced design philosophy and top-notch technologies of the brand. However, these technologies and philosophy usually are rather difficult or costly to realize in batch production. As a result, many automobile manufacturers make compromises or changes in the process of development. The TIGGO 7 was developed by the international team of CTCS (Chery Technical Center Shanghai). Throughout the R&D process the team followed the principle of “let the designers have more rights of dominating the design so as tomaximize the design results”. In this way the design essence of the TX concept vehicle was retained. CTCS has world-class talents from BMW, Ford and GM. As a world-class R&D team, it is the spearhead to realize Chery3.0 strategic goals.
