The Industrial Solutions business area with its four business units Resource Technologies, Process Technologies, System Engineering and Marine Systems offers promising long-term market opportunities on account of its broad technology portfolio and international positioning. To make increased use of these opportunities in a more challenging market environment, Industrial Solutions has initiated a comprehensive transformation and growth program. The aim for the recently combined large-scale plant engineering business (Resource Technologies and Process Technologies) is to collaborate more effectively in addressing markets and customers as well as to exploit competitive advantages provided by closer integration between regions and operating businesses. Among other things sales efforts are to be strengthened and the share of high-margin service business increased. Marine Systems is competing to win a number of major projects and at the same time working on a high order backlog. This calls for an increased focusing of the Industrial Solutions management board.

For this reason Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien (60) will be concentrating fully on the management of Marine Systems in the future as a member of the business area management board. At October 15, 2015 Jens Michael Wegmann (50) will take over as chairman of the Industrial Solutions business area management board, with responsibility for Strategy, Communications, Technology/Innovation/Sustainability, Quality & Processes, and Compliance. CFO Jörg Schönewolf (53) will additionally be responsible for Purchasing and Export Control. Martin Hilbig (59) will continue in an unchanged role as CHRO.

The bidding for the Australia project in particular is a major opportunity for Marine Systems requiring the full attention of its top management. At the same time the concentration of Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien’s duties on Marine Systems underlines the importance of this business for the company.
