Steve Underwood, Director – Connected Vehicle Proving Center (CVPC), University of Michigan has been confirmed as a speaker at Autonomous Car Detroit.
Dr. Underwood is Director of the Connected Vehicle Proving Center at the University of Michigan – Dearborn’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is the Chair of SAE’s On-Road Automated Vehicle (ORAV) technical committee and the Co-Chair of the Reference Architecture and Interfaces task force.
He is also working with the US Army Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), Michigan Department of Transportation, and USDOT in planning the testing of truck automation on Michigan freeways. He initiated SAE’s J3016 report on Levels of Automation and led the effort on SAE’s J3018 report on safety on road testing of automated vehicles.
