Shanghai OnStar announced today that it now has 600,000 subscribers across China. It is the leading domestic telematics service provider.

“At the end of October, the number of OnStar subscribers hit the 500,000 milestone. Reaching 600,000 just nine months later has exceeded our expectations,” said Diane Jurgens, Managing Director of Shanghai OnStar. “Shanghai OnStar is committed to providing comprehensive, reliable telematics service for Shanghai GM customers. We are actively developing new functions, such as the My Vehicle Location mobile app, Camera Alert and Avoid Traffic, to ensure excellent service for our subscribers.”

Not long ago, several parts of Sichuan province were inundated by severe rainstorms. To guarantee the safety of subscribers, Shanghai OnStar immediately activated an emergency response system. Emergency Service and Hands-Free Calling were provided free of charge to all OnStar users in Sichuan, including those whose OnStar service had expired. Shanghai OnStar had earlier provided emergency response service for local subscribers following April’s Ya’an earthquake in Sichuan.

On July 9, the day the rainstorms struck Sichuan, Shanghai OnStar provided services for more than 1,200 subscribers in the province, including Turn-by-Turn Navigation 1,637 times, OnStar Destination Download 457 times, Emergency Service 111 times, Remote Door Unlock 160 times, Remote Horn & Lights 125 times, Automatic Crash Response eight times and On-Demand Diagnostics 77 times.

On July 10, Shanghai OnStar was named the 2012-2013 Best Customer Service Management Team by the China Information Association and China Association of Trade in Service. It was the second consecutive time that Shanghai OnStar received the honor.
