All 20 of the shipping centers put forward by Schaeffler in Germany have been certified as “Known Consignors” by the Federal Agency of Aviation. This certification means that outgoing air freight shipments count as part of a secure supply chain and can be loaded onto planes without having to undergo further security checks at service providers’ premises or at the airport. It is therefore ensured that international customers receive their air freight shipments without time delays or additional costs.
To obtain the certification, hermetically sealed air freight security areas were set up and over 1,000 employees involved in the air freight handling process were specially trained at the relevant Schaeffler shipping centers across Germany.
Security coordinator Matthias Mlottek explains: “The Federal Agency of Aviation inspected our air freight handling processes in minute detail. Air freight must be verifiably protected against unauthorized access, for example. This “Known Consignor” status now provides further proof that Schaeffler is one of the top companies.”
In December of last year, Schaeffler’s Romanian subsidiary (S.C. Schaeffler Romania S.R.L. in Brasov) was also certified as a “Known Consignor” by the Romanian authorities and is currently the only company in Romania to hold this status.
