  • Available now across all X-Trail model grades

Nissan is extending its award-winning X-Trail range with the addition of a new 1.6 litre DIG-T 163PS petrol engine, delivering one of the most advanced and fuel-efficient petrol engines in its class.

Sitting alongside the existing 1.6 litre dCi 130PS diesel engine and already a popular choice in the Qashqai range, the X-Trail’s new four-cylinder petrol powerplant features advanced turbocharging technology designed to combine sharp performance with low CO2 and exceptional fuel economy.

Fully compliant with the latest European emissions legislations – Euro6 – which comes in to force this September, fuel consumption for the Visia and Acenta models is an impressive 6.2L/100km* (45.6mpg), while CO2 emissions are just 145g/km. In terms of performance, the new X-Trail DIG-T can sprint from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 9.7 second and has a top speed of 200km/h (124mph).

The new unit achieves 163PS at 5,600rpm and 240Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,000rpm and is offered in two-wheel drive form only with a six-speed manual transmission fitted as standard. This highly capable engine further readies the X-Trail for adventure, with towing capacity of 1800kg**.

These impressive figures highlight Nissan’s downsizing philosophy and demonstrate that large capacity is not necessary to deliver strong acceleration and in-gear flexibility.

Building on Nissan’s Crossover success, the new X-Trail DIG-T 163 is equipped with a Start/Stop ignition system and delivers the kind of smooth, responsive and high quality driving experience that Nissan customers have come to expect. Practicality also remains with the X-Trail’s best-in-class passenger seating with its sliding and reclining second row as standard.

The new petrol powered X-Trail is available to pre-order now and on sale from September from Nissan dealers across Europe, in all standard grades, with Acenta, N-TEC and Tekna also offering seven seater options.

* Figure stated is for models with 17″ alloy wheels. X-Trail DIG-T 163 with 19″ alloy wheels is 6.4L/100km
** Towing capacity stated as tested at 12% incline
