The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has today revealed the shortlist for the 2014 Low Carbon Champions Awards. The Awards will be presented at Cenex’s Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Event’s sell-out gala dinner at Jury’s Inn, Milton Keynes. The Master of Ceremonies will be the actor Robert Llewellyn, a green vehicle enthusiast, best known for his role as Kryten in BBC’s Red Dwarf and for presenting Channel 4’s Scrapheap Challenge.

The Awards celebrate outstanding and innovative practice in accelerating the shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels and reducing road transport emissions. The LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards are one of a select few sustainable development awards schemes to have received accreditation by the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA).

The Grand Prix sponsor of the 2014 Low Carbon Champions Awards is Millbrook.

Commenting on this year’s Awards short-list, the LowCVP Managing Director Andy Eastlake said: “The record number of entries, as well as their quality and diversity, show that the UK’s low carbon vehicles sector is full of vibrancy and innovation.

“This year’s winners and short-listed entrants can be truly proud of their achievements in the face of some tough competition.”

The Low Carbon Champions Awards will be presented on the evening of the first day of Cenex’s LCV 2014 event which is being held at Millbrook Proving Ground on 10-11 September. As the UK’s Premier Low Carbon Vehicle Event, LCV attracts UK and international visitors and combines a technology exhibition with broad B2B focus, a Ride & Drive in a test track environment, networking activities and an extensive seminar programmes (www.cenex-lcv.co.uk/2014/). The Awards dinner is a joint initiative of Cenex-LCV and the LowCVP. It is the first time that the Low Carbon Champions Awards have been presented in this format.
